Learn preschool basics in English and Chinese! Every page is written in English, Simplified Chinese, and Pinyin (yes, even the instructions!). This workbook is filled with exercises that make learning fun and engaging. It teaches vocabulary for everyday life, fun topics, and Chinese culture. Adults learning Chinese can also use the supplemental vocabulary at the bottom of the pages as a resource.
Who We Are
We are a wife and husband team on a journey to teach our kids Chinese. Our Chinese immigrant parents tried to find the right balance for us, adopting American culture while also holding on to our Chinese one. Now as parents ourselves, we understand that struggle first-hand.
We weren't fluent speakers when our kids were born, so we weren't sure how much Chinese we could teach them. However, we decided early on that we would fully commit to this journey and give them the best possible chance. We read all the blogs, bought all the books, and watched all the Chinese kids shows. Some days it felt like an impossible task. But eventually we realized: Hey, we're actually doing it. Our kids are speaking Chinese!
But we also realized that our kids' Chinese will only be as good as our own. As busy parents, we understand it's hard to find dedicated time to sit down and learn Chinese. But what if there were an easy and fun way for kids and parents to learn Chinese together? Our two kids love doing workbooks, but we couldn't find any good options in Chinese, especially ones that were bilingual and included pinyin. Thus, we created LiHai Books to share high quality and engaging work for young children that also supports adults learning with their kids.
Our family, especially our kids, are excited to share our work with you. In Chinese, lìhài (励害) means "amazing, awesome, impressive." We know that teaching children Chinese can be both challenging and rewarding. We hope that this books helps your family on your Chinese learning journey and helps every kid feel lìhài!
